Summary0001558: Request: dd-isci-1.2.0 iso for EL10
DescriptionThank you for your continued support.

Do you have any plans to provide the Intel SCU driver dd-isci-1.2.0 ISO for EL10 to enable hard drive detection? I found that it is necessary for installing AlmaLinux 10 and Rocky 10.

Thank you very much in advance.

dd-isci-1.2.0-1.el10_0.elrepo.iso will be syncing to our mirrors shortly. It will show up in:

https://elrepo.org/linux/dud/el10/

Thank you for your prompt response.

I tried using it with dd in pxe installation process, but an error like the attached screenshot (Unknown symbol sas_XXXXX (err -1)), and the Linux installer crashes during booting.

Seems like the same issue as the one reported for EL8 ( https://elrepo.org/bugs/view.php?id=1458 ).

Can you try the workaround noted in https://elrepo.org/bugs/view.php?id=1458#c9845 ?

Providing the kmod-isci-1.2.0*.elrepo.src.rpm package would also be helpful, as it would allow me to try out some other approaches.

The kmod-isci-1.2.0*.elrepo package (src and x86_64) just pushed to mirrors.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the RHEL 10.0 kernel and see look at that function to see what might have changed.

I've compared the current RHEL 10.0 isci driver code to upstream kernel 6.12.43 and there is not a lot missing. There is a bug fix, but it has to do with an error condition. Your error is simply upon device initialization.

I just noticed that you have AlmaLinux listed as the OS. Are you perhaps using the x86-64-v2 altarch? The kmod we built is for the official x86-64-v3.

I see. The hardware we are dealing with (6017R-NTF from 2011) might simply be too old.
I just learned that the baseline has been raised to x86_64-v3 for RHEL 10, so I may have to give up installing the RHEL 10 base distribution. (Perhaps I should use AlmaLinux 9.6 instead.)

Ok thanks for confirming my suspicion. The SuperMicro 6017R-NTF supports only Intel E5-2xxxx (Sandy Bridge EP) and E5-2xxxx v2 (Ivy Bridge EP) processors. It is unfortunately x86-64-v2.

Your options are:

1. AlmaLinux 9.6 - It should work pretty well on your hardware. We also already have a DUD for kmod-isci for EL9.6.

2. AlmaLinux 10.0 (x86-64-v2 altarch) - This has very limited support to AlmaLinux main repo + AlmaLinux EPEL repo. We could possibly build you a one-off driver for it. You'd have to request any updates manually.

Closing this issue for inactivity. We have provided kmod-isci for EL10 but they needed it for AlmaLinux 10 x86-64-v2.

If the kmod for x86-64-v2 is still wanted, please re-open this issue.
