Summary | 0000927: RFE: Support for 1000:0060 LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 1078
Description | RHEL 8 removed support for SAS1078R, PCI ID 0x1000:0x60 from the megaraid_sas driver. I have two servers with Dell PERC 6/i cards impacted by this and would love to see support restored. Thanks. 01:00.0 RAID bus controller [0104]: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 1078 [1000:0060] (rev 04) These servers currently run CentOS 7 and will be upgraded to CentOS 8 once these cards are again supported and CentOS 8 is available. (please set severity appropriately, to me it is major, but to you?)

Hi Larry, We are ahead of you on this one. We have already made available an updated kmod-megaraid_sas driver package for RHEL8 with support reinstated: https://elrepo.org/linux/elrepo/el8/x86_64/RPMS/ Further, there are Driver Update Disk ISOs available to allow installation on systems with these devices. You will want dd-megaraid_sas-07.707.50.00-1.el8_0.elrepo.iso available here: https://elrepo.org/linux/dud/el8/x86_64/ |

Further, there is unfortunately a bug in the dracut package in rhel8 that affects the use of kmod driver packages. The bug means that the updated kmod-megaraid_sas driver will not work correctly with newer kernel updates. See here for example: https://elrepo.org/bugs/view.php?id=919 We have identified the issue, backported a fix and rebuilt the dracut package with the fix. It is available here: http://elrepo.org/people/akemi/testing/el8/dracut/ At present we are unsure if Red Hat will be able to get the fix into RHEL8.1 (the fix is not in the RHEL8.1 beta release), but for the meantime we would recommend anyone deploying kmod driver updates to also update dracut with the package we provide. Once the fix hits RHEL, the RHEL version should supersede our offering. As always, we would really welcome feedback, either that everything is working as expected, or any issues you discover so we can work to fix them, but hopefully we should have you covered now for megaraid_sas in rhel8 |

Wonderful, thanks for the quick response! You may want to update http://elrepo.org/tiki/DeviceIDs as it does not include PCI id 1000:0060 (I looked at the list before I submitted my request). I will use your driver once CentOS 8 gets released. --Larry |

Hmm, I thought I'd updated the device ID list, but apparently not. :( Thanks for letting us know. |

Thanks Larry. I'll mark this as resolved for now, but please do report back how things work for you or if you have any issues. |
