Summary | 0000888: Enable Pressure Stall Information (PSI) for kernel-ml 4.20 and newer
Description | Please build the Mainline kernel with the new PSI feature enabled. To enabled this feature you have to build the kernel by setting the following "CONFIG_PSI=y" as described here: https://facebookmicrosites.github.io/psi/docs/overview

Acknowledged. I see that when CONFIG_PSI is enabled a further option then becomes available, namely CONFIG_PSI_DEFAULT_DISABLED. The help for that latter option states -- "If set, pressure stall information tracking will be disabled per default but can be enabled through passing psi=1 on the kernel commandline during boot." As I do not have any knowledge or experience of pressure stall information tracking, I wonder if configuring the second option would be a good idea. Do you have any opinion, please? |
Hello burakkucat, i do not have any knowledge or experience of pressure stall information tracking either. I think it would be the best to set CONFIG_PSI_DEFAULT_DISABLED=1.So everybody can decide on your own if you want to enable psi via passing psi=1 on the kernel commandline. |
Thank you. So we are in agreement. The configuration changes, CONFIG_PSI=y and CONFIG_PSI_DEFAULT_DISABLED=y, have now been queued for the next build of the kernel-ml package set. |
With the recent release of the kernel-ml-4.20.1-1.el7.elrepo package set [1] this configuration modification has been fulfilled. Now closing as "resolved/fixed". [1] http://lists.elrepo.org/pipermail/elrepo/2019-January/004636.html |
