Platform | Lenovo Thinkpad P50 | OS | Centos | OS Version | 6.9 |
Summary | 0000742: kmod-bbswitch and bumblebee not working on Lenovo Thinkpad P50 and Centos 6.9 kernel 2.6.32-696.1.1.el6.centos.plus.x86_64
Description | I am trying to get bumblebee to work on a Lenovo Thinkpad P50 with the latest kmod-nvidia driver, but I receive the following error: bbswitch: device 0000:01:00.0 is in use by driver 'nvidia', refusing OFF Please refer to other related messages in the attached file.
Steps To Reproduce | Install the bumblebee, kmod-nividia, nvidia-detect packages per the webpage instructions.
Additional Information | This error appears to be related to the error I have reported for Centos 7.3. Please refer to my latest note update for elrepo/el7 ID: 0000737. This note and the attached file documents how I replaced the rebuilt rpms with the elrepo and epel recommended rpms and I still received the errors. The github bumblebee issue 0000762 lists some code changes that have successfully resolved this issue for other Linux builds. I tried to build from the development branch for Centos 7.3, but that rpm did not work, so I realized that I am insufficiently skilled to resolve this issue on my own. Thank you in advance for your assistance in creating the required rpms to resolve this issue. I am able to test your test builds for both Centos 6.9 and 7.3 because I have a multi-boot setup for this computer.

I also had this issue and another issue regarding not being able to access the GPU card because of a missing kernel patch when I used the stock latest Centos 7.3 and 6.9 kernels. That error was resolved when I installed the kernel-plus rpms, thereby allowing me to get to this error. |
