| Description | I would like to request the EM28XX kernel module be added to the elrepo as it is not currently being build and distributed as part of the Rocky 9 releases. This module supports USB DVB dongles. thanks for your support. | ||||

This is an in-kernel driver located in /drivers/media/usb/em28xx There are a lot of dependencies. @toracat - is this currently enabled in either kernel-ml or -lt? |

@pperry Yes, em28xx is enabled in both kernel-ml and kernel-lt. |

@LongtimeonLinux Until we are able to look at a kmod package for the Rocky kernel for this, our kernel packages (both mainline kernel-ml and LTS kernel-lt) have the driver for em28xx enabled. Would you be able to try either of these kernel packages and confirm the device works? |

I can try loading kernel-ml or kernel-lt.on my old laptop and see if it works but it will be a week or so before I can do it. |

I tried loading the LT kernel on my old laptop and after acquiring/copying the xc3028-v27.fw firmware into /lib/firmware I was able to watch ATSC TV stations using Kaffeine with the device. I would still prefer the KMOD for my main laptop as it has other things like VMWare that seem to break when I deviate from the normal SW. But this confirms the drivers are still working. |

@LongtimeonLinux I decided to just go ahead and add a new package called "kmod-media" to our "elrepo-testing" repository. The following packages are syncing to our mirrors: kmod-media-0.0-1.el9_6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm (for running against EL 9.6 GA kernel 5.14.0-570.12.1.el9_6) kmod-media-0.0-2.el9_6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm (for running against EL 9.6 errata kernel 5.14.0-570.42.2.el9_6 or later) xc3028-firmware-0.0-1.el9.elrepo.noarch.rpm (required firmware files) You can install it with: dnf --enablerepo elrepo-testing install kmod-media |

@LongtimeonLinux I pushed an updated kmod-media "-4" package to our mirrors. It integrates our pre-existing "hdpvr" module into this one since it's under the same "drivers/media" subsystem. You shouldn't see any functionality changes from before. If you could let me know if the "-4" works ok, then I'll promote the package to the main repo. |
