Summary | 0001496: Issue Installing kmod-usbip on RHEL 8.3
Description | Hello, I am relatively new to Linux and am attempting to install the kmod-usbip package to access a USB device (AnywhereUSB) that I use to connect license dongles. The device manufacturer, Digi, has released a Linux driver, and the installation requires kmod-usbip. However, I am encountering an error when trying to install the package. Below are the details of the issue: Kernel Version: # uname -r 4.18.0-240.22.1.el8_3.x86_64 kmod-usbip Installation: # yum --enablerepo=elrepo install kmod-usbip Error: Problem: cannot install the best candidate for the job - I am running RHEL 8.3 with kernel version 4.18.0-240.22.1.el8_3.x86_64. Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue? Should I upgrade my kernel or is there another solution? I appreciate your help!

kmod-usbip is dependant upon the latest distro kernel, and uname shows you are running an old el8_3 (RHEL 8.3) kernel that is unable to meet the dependency requirements, hence the errors you are seeing. We only support the latest version of RHEL. Please update your system to the latest rhel 8.10 kernel. Closing this ticket as there is nothing for us to fix here. |
