| Description | Recently (maybe in the last week or so), trying to install packages from elrepo fails due to a timeout when connecting to the EL8 mirrorlist: # dnf install kmod-nvidia Errors during downloading metadata for repository 'elrepo': - Curl error (28): Timeout was reached for http://mirrors.elrepo.org/mirrors-elrepo.el8 [Connection timed out after 30000 milliseconds] Commenting the mirrorlist out of the yum repo file stops the problem: [elrepo] name=ELRepo.org Community Enterprise Linux Repository - el8 baseurl=http://elrepo.org/linux/elrepo/el8/$basearch/ http://mirrors.coreix.net/elrepo/elrepo/el8/$basearch/ http://mirror.rackspace.com/elrepo/elrepo/el8/$basearch/ http://linux-mirrors.fnal.gov/linux/elrepo/elrepo/el8/$basearch/ #mirrorlist=http://mirrors.elrepo.org/mirrors-elrepo.el8 enabled=1 countme=1 gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-elrepo.org Elrepo was installed using the get started instructions here: https://elrepo.org/wiki/doku.php?id=start This happens across many of the hosts on our network. Hi, We have experienced DDoS attacks, and have blocked many offending IP subnets, so you may have been caught up in that. If you let us know your IP address range, we can check and remove any blocks, but they may well get re-blocked in the future. An easy workaround is to comment out the mirrorlist line as you have done, and then just hard code your mirror of choice in the baseurl line (our main site elrepo.org is probably not the fastest!) Apologies if you are collateral damage on the IP blocks. |

We're experiencing this as well, I would guess we've fallen to the DDOS ban hammer as well. To whom should we direct the email about getting out of jail? |
