Summary0001425: nvidia has released packages that drop support for older cards
DescriptionThe 545 driver is out and appears to no longer support some cards that were supported in previous builds. Sorry, I have not found any documentation for this, but I have several machines that are currently not running the nvidia driver. rpmforge has released updated packages for 545, but not a stable branch, so I'm not sure what you can do with nvidia-detect. But I suppose it would be relevant for el7 and el8. And I wanted it on your radar for el9 nvidia-detect.
Steps To ReproduceQuadro RTX 4000
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Both models do not work with the 545 driver. Going to nvidia's download site and putting in those models returns the 535 driver.

sorry, I meant rpmfusion, not rpmforge. I do miss your easy-to-use driver stack in el9.

I wasn't aware Nvidia were about to depecate support for any hardware - this is normally very well publicised in advance.

I suspect this may be a bug on Nvidia's end. Checking the docs here:

http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/545.29.06/README/supportedchips.html

both cards are still listed as supported:

Quadro RTX 4000 1EB6
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 1B06 H

The script I use for nvidia-detect pulls deviceID data from that doc file, but you can check the above two devices are also listed in supported-gpus.json in the source package (I don't have the v545 sources to hand)

I would raise an issue with Nvidia first to check. If the deviceIDs continue to appear in the docs, our nvidia-detect will continue to detect them as supported.
