| Description | I was attempting a fresh install of Rocky Linux 8.7 on a Dell PowerEdge R310 with an PERC H700. I was assuming that megaraid_sas driver was no longer supported by upstream, so I burned this ISO to use as a driver disk. https://elrepo.org/linux/dud/el8/x86_64/dd-megaraid_sas-07.719.03.00-2.el8_7.elrepo.iso The installer said it didn't find a suitable driver. I inspected the contents of the ISO and the KMOD RPM files are linked against kernel-4.18.0-425.10.1.el8_7.x86_64 instead of kernel-4.18.0-425.3.1.el8.x86_64. Despite the installer error message, I decided to continue to see what additional errors would show up. I was surprised to see that Rocky Linux 8.7 still recognized the Dell PERC H700 and the driver was already part of the kernel-modules RPM. According to this article, ever since EL 8.4 the megaraid_sas driver is "recognized but unsupported" by Red Hat. So going forward, should the ELRepo driver for megaraid_sas be necessary for EL 8.4+? https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3751841 | ||||

Please ignore the part about the megaraid_sas already being in EL 8.4+. I misread it thinking that all devices were "recognized but unsupported". I was just fortunate to have an H700. |

There was some breakage in the el8.7 kernel that affects many kmod driver packages. To get the system installed, I would recommend you try using an el8.6 installation media and corresponding 8.6 DUD image. Then once successfully installed, update the system. |

Alternatively, if you wait a few days, we can release DUDs for el8.8 |

Yes, I remember that EL8.7 kernel issue with the 'pv_lock_ops' symbol. Mainly I wanted to let you know since those three dd ISO's are bad, just in case you want to delete them. Thanks, I'll probably just hold off to test EL8.8 if it's just another week or so. |

Thank you. I think you raise a good point, and once we have updated our Driver Update Disk images for el8.8, I agree it may be a good idea to remove older images from the repository, especially those for el8.7. |

Since EL8.7 was a mess kernel 'pv_lock_ops' symbol, any chance all of the drivers RPM's could be rebuilt for EL8.8? |

I have rebuilt packages against the RHEL 8.8 kernel and uploaded for release: kmod-megaraid_sas-07.719.03.00-3.el8_8.elrepo.src.rpm kmod-megaraid_sas-07.719.03.00-3.el8_8.elrepo.x86_64.rpm I have also released new DUD images for el8.8: dd-megaraid_sas-07.719.03.00-3.el8_8.elrepo.iso dd-megaraid_sas-07.719.03.00-3.el8_8.elrepo.SHA256SUM.asc All should be available on mirror sites shortly. We would appreciate any feedback on whether these packages fix the issue for you. |

I will try to get these the megaraid_sas tested next week and I can physically get to the server. |

The kmod-megaraid_sas driver worked great with replacing the crippled stock driver in EL8_8. Tested working on a Dell R310 with an PERC H700. |
