| Description | The current version of kmod-usbip-0.0-8.el8_4.elrepo.x86_64 does not support the 4.18.0-315.el8.x86_64 kernel. 4.18.0-315.el8.x86_64 is a CentOS Stream kernel. We do not support Stream kernels as described in: https://elrepoproject.blogspot.com/2021/01/elrepo-and-centos-stream.html You have two options here. One is to install a regular (non-stream) CentOS kernel which is available in the CentOS Stream repository. The other is to ask the CentOS kmods Sig [1] to provide the kmod-usbip package for Stream. Thanks for the quick reply, that was a good read. Looks like the best plan of action would be for me to use a non-stream CentOS kernel if I want to get up and running quickly. However, in the interest of learning, would a third method be to download the source rpm at https://mirror.rackspace.com/elrepo/elrepo/el8/SRPMS/kmod-usbip-0.0-1.el8_0.elrepo.src.rpm and build it for the kernel that is running? Thanks again! |

Sure, you can build it yourself. To build for a specific kernel version, add the flag: --define 'kmod_kernel_version 4.18.0-315.el8' on the rpmbuild (or mock) command . |
