Summary0001061: Request nvidia driver 455.45 for latest gpu card support.
DescriptionNeeded for GeForce RTX 3090 and other advanced nvidia gpu cards.
Additional Informationhttps://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/results/166883/

Not sure if this short-lived driver is all that's available to support the RTX 3090 card. The nvidia linux driver search capabilities aren't terribly consistent.
Tagsdriver, nvidia

Acknowledged. We've already done for el7 below, so I'll see if I can get this built for el8 on the weekend.

455.45.01 packages have been built and released to the testing repository. Files are currently syncing to mirror sites and should be available shortly.

Please test with:

dnf update kmod-nvidia

and reboot.

Please can you provide feedback if the packages work as expected for you - no local testing has been performed.

As this is a short term branch driver release, they will stay in the testing repository until they have been superseded in the main repository by a production branch release, at which point they will be removed.

Thank you

Thanks for providing the new package. My apologies, but I can't seem to find the updated driver.

I have elrepo, elrepo-extras, elrepo-kernel, and elrepo-testing enabled, but searching for kmod-nvidia only shows the same results as before:

sudo dnf search kmod-nvidia

kmod-nvidia-390xx.x86_64 : NVIDIA OpenGL kernel driver module

Is there something else I need to do?

Thanks

Oh, nevermind. 'dnf install kmod-nvidia' shows the 455.45 version in the kmod-nvidia package:

kmod-nvidia x86_64 455.45.01-1.el8_3.elrepo elrepo-testing 19 M

I'll install now and report back.

Working!

lspci | grep VGA
05:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GA102 [GeForce RTX 3090] (rev a1)

'nvidia-settings' produces this output on startup, but otherwise appears to function normally:

GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 13:03:42.202: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

Thanks!

Great, thanks for the feedback- closing this request.

Packages will stay in testing until they are surpassed by newer releases from the production (long lived) branch
