| Description | Hi, my laptop uses "Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter" I have requested help on the Centos Forums and they have said that there doesnt seem to be support for this adaptor. Can a package be built for this please as I urgently need it for my laptop. Thank you :) | ||||

@traycaa Just wanted to let you know that ELRepo's kernel-ml has support for your device. You may want to give it a try and see if your wireless works. |

Hi, Thank you. Since I have no ethernet I need to install it manually through usb. Inside the kernel-ml rpms folder, there are many rpms. Do I have to install all of them? Also, do i need to place it in a specific directory in elrepo? |

Download the following to a directory: kernel-ml kernel-ml-core kernel-ml-modules and run "dnf localinstall kernel*". |

Hi, I have installed the rpms but now for some reason when i start up the machine i get this as an option: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (5.9.1-1.el8.elrepo.x86_64) 8.2 (0opta) |

Did you try booting to that newer kernel? Did the wireless work? |

wifi didnt work, I booted to the newer kernel and it returned with error: /grub-core/loader/i386/efi/linux.c:208:(hdo,gpt2)/vmlinux-5.9.1-1.el8.elrepo.x86_64 has invalid signature. error: ../../grub-core/loader/i386/efi/linux.c:93: you need to load the kernel first |

i tried running with secureboot off and it gets stuck on loading screen... |

Newer elrepo kernels are not signed for use with Secure Boot. I couldn't see a linux driver from Realtek for this device, only Windows drivers: https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo/category/rtl8821ce-software I think at this point you are stuck with a device that is not supported on RHEL unless you can disable Secure Boot and run a newer kernel that supports the device. For now there is nothing more I can suggest. Sorry |
