| Description | Similar to the situation in the RFE for kmod-nvidia for el8[0], updating the driver from elrepo 440.59 to 440.64 required manually running `dracut -f` to rebuild initramfs. Kernel module itself loads just fine, but is initially unusable because of this. Perry, if there's any other system information you need just ask for it. Packages have been updated to the latest upstream 440.82 release. I've patched kmod-nvidia to run dracut against all kABI compatible kernels. Can you please check if this fixes the issue for you. Hopefully, the initramfs for all kABI compatible (e.g, el8.1) kernels should have been updated during the installation and there should be no module mismatch upon reboot. I had already upgraded to 147.8.1 the other night, so I couldn't test a proper migration from 5.1 to 8.1 to ensure validity. That being said, the upgrade went flawlessly! Isolated into multi-user, ran the upgrade, then rebooted. Dumped me right back into gdm proper and nvidia-smi is reporting 440.82 just fine. Great work! |
