| Description | I did not find the 3ware Inc 9750 SAS2/SATA-II RAID PCIe [13c1:1010] in your supported devices. It is not specifically listed in the RHEL 8 removed devices but I believe would fall under 3w-9xxx. Regardless, the 9750 does not natively work in RHEL / CentOS 8. It does work in CentOS 7. I tried all the existing DUDs including dd-3w-9xxx-2.26.02.014-1.el8_0.elrepo.iso | ||||

Device ID pair [13c1:1010] is supported by the 3w-sas driver. It is enabled in EL7 but disabled in EL8. We will try building a kmod for it. |

Tried it out and it appears to work fine. CentOS8 installs with the DUD. I greatly appreciate the work of the team. I work with a lot of small businesses and non-profits. While the hardware that was removed from the kernel is aging, the hardware is more than capable for their needs. They do need software with supported security updates. I can somewhat understand dropping some of the legacy 3ware drivers. I can not understand the decision to drop massively in use controllers such as the Perc 6. Thank you for giving us the ability to use a long term supported OS. |
