| Description | The touchpad (ELAN0676:00, 04F3:3195) is not functional on kernel-ml 7.1.6-1.el9.elrepo.x86_64 on an Intel Lunar Lake laptop (ThinkPad, PCI 8086:64a0). The device is present in /sys/bus/i2c/devices/ and /sys/bus/acpi/devices/ but fails to bind because i2c_hid_acpi cannot obtain an IRQ: /sys/kernel/debug/devices_deferred: i2c-ELAN0676:00 i2c_hid_acpi: can't get irq Root cause: CONFIG_PINCTRL_LNL is not enabled in kernel-ml 7.1.6. The Lunar Lake pinctrl driver (introduced in kernel 6.11) is required to resolve GPIO IRQs for I2C HID devices on this platform. The current build only includes pinctrl-meteorlake, which does not cover Lunar Lake. The stock RHEL9 kernel (5.14.0-611/687) includes a backport of this driver and the touchpad works correctly, but cannot be used due to xe DRM flip_done timeouts on Lunar Lake (separate issue). Requested fix: enable CONFIG_PINCTRL_LNL in kernel-ml builds. | ||||

I cannot find CONFIG_PINCTRL_LNL in the current Kconfig file. Instead, CONFIG_PINCTRL_INTEL_PLATFORM seems to be the required config option for Intel Lunar Lake platforms. It is enabled in the distro kernel. CONFIG_PINCTRL_INTEL_PLATFORM=m We will enable this in our kernels. |

CONFIG_PINCTRL_INTEL_PLATFORM is now enabled in the kernel-ml package set released today: kernel-ml-7.1.7-1.el9.elrepo Please give it a try and see if your touchpad is working. |
