Description | Hello, My system cannot find (non-bootable) drives connected to LSI SAS2008 card. The following message appears in dmesg every time. "Warning: Disabled Hardware is detected: mpt3sas:0072:1000 @ 0000:01:00.0 is no longer enabled in this release." I tried installing the elrepo and elrepo-testing kmod-mpt3sas modules, but that did not solve the problem. @yuria In your Rocky forum post, you mentioned you were using CentOS 8. Did the kmod-mpt3sas package work for you at that time? |

@yuria With kmod-mpt3sas installed, please try: modprobe mpt3sas modprobe -r mpt3sas and show us the last several lines from dmesg. |

Just acknowledging this bug, and to say we are looking at it, but at present have no clear indication as to what is causing the issue and hence how to fix it. |

The first "modprobe mpt3sas" did not output anything. Thank you for that. My guess is that the Red Hat driver was originally loaded, which has support for your device disabled. By unloading the driver (modprobe -r) and reloading it, you have now loaded the new elrepo driver which recognises your devices. Can we assume things are now working as expected, and close the bug? @toracat I know it's too late to say this, kmod-mpt3sas worked perfectly on CentOS 8. That machine is broken now, so I can't check the details, but I think the version was CentOS 8.2 or so. |

@yuria The elrepo driver should load automatically. If that is not happening upon reboot, please let me know and we will investigate and fix it. If it is not working after a reboot, please show the output from: rpm -q kmod-mpt3sas modinfo mpt3sas dmesg output lsinitrd -k $(uname -r) | grep -i mpt3sas and you can again work around the issue by unloading and reloading the driver with modprobe. If it is not working upon reboot, but unloading and reloading the driver fixes it, then you probably have the old RHEL distro driver loaded in your initramfs image (the output from the lsinitrd command above should confirm this), and will probably need to recreate the image using dracut: dracut -f /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r).img $(uname -r) |

@pperry From the results, I recreated the initramfs image with the dracut command you gave me and everything worked fine!! It works perfectly even from reboot or cold boot. Before the image was rebuilt, the system could not find the drives upon reboot. I am attaching a log of that time, although it may no longer be necessary.
