| Description | Is there some *other* check than for the "centos-stream-release" package for kmod-nvidia? Here is the situation: 1. Ticket 1125 (https://elrepo.org/bugs/view.php?id=1125) suggests (via http://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-lt) to use the kernel-ml or kernel-lt to help maintain KABI with CentOS 8 Stream. but 2. kmod-nvidia (kmod-nvidia-470.63.01-1.el8_4.elrepo.x86_64.rpm) will refuse to install/upgrade regardless of kernel-lt (or kernel-ml) because of "Conflicts" with centos-stream-release. Thanks for the report. The kernel-lt comment is irrelevant, as none of elrepo's kmod packages are compatible with kernel-it or kernel-ml. But I have queued to removed the conflict with 'centos-stream-release' in the next kmod-nvidia release since Stream is now shipping the stock el8 distro kernels in Stream, in addition to the Stream development kernels. This allows elrepo kmods to be used with the stock disto kernels in Stream. My understanding is that the last two stock el8 kernels will be maintained in the Stream repository :-) Changes will be in the next release of kmod-nvidia. In the meantime, can you use --nodeps to work around? |
