Summary | 0000932: Need an updated CCISS Driver/DUD for current CentOS7 kernel
Description | Hello - I am trying to install CentOS7 via kickstart to some older HP GL380 servers, with with 'P400' RAID controllers. The current HPSA drivers do not recognize that card. After reading this post: https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=51302 I added the ISO to my kickstart file, but it fails to recognize/load the RAID controller. Anaconda logs show: "19:55:15,527 DEBUG dd_extract:extracting /media/DD-1/rpms/x86_64/kmod-cciss-3.6.26-1.el7.x86_64.rpm 19:55:15,661 DEBUG save_repo:copying /media/DD-1/rpms/x86_64 to /run/install/DD-1 19:55:15,661 DEBUG journal:copying /media/DD-1/rpms/x86_64/kmod-cciss-3.6.26-1.el7.x86_64.rpm to /run/install/DD-1/. 19:55:15,662 DEBUG journal:creating /run/install/DD-1/./repodata 19:55:15,662 DEBUG journal:copying /media/DD-1/rpms/x86_64/repodata/filelists.xml.gz to /run/install/DD-1/repodata 19:55:15,662 DEBUG journal:copying /media/DD-1/rpms/x86_64/repodata/other.xml.gz to /run/install/DD-1/repodata 19:55:15,663 DEBUG journal:copying /media/DD-1/rpms/x86_64/repodata/primary.xml.gz to /run/install/DD-1/repodata 19:55:15,663 DEBUG journal:copying /media/DD-1/rpms/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml to /run/install/DD-1/repodata 19:55:15,683 DEBUG journal:unmounting /media/DD-1 19:55:15,705 DEBUG journal:unload drivers: set([]) 19:55:15,705 DEBUG load_drivers:['cciss'] 19:55:17,722 WARNING kernel:cciss: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel. 19:55:17,722 WARNING kernel:WARNING: module 'cciss' built without retpoline-enabled compiler, may affect Spectre v2 mitigation 19:55:17,723 NOTICE kernel:cciss: module verification failed: signature and/or required key missing - tainting kernel 19:55:17,725 INFO kernel:HP CISS Driver (v 3.6.26) 19:55:17,736 WARNING kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: can't disable ASPM; OS doesn't have ASPM control 19:55:17,736 DEBUG kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: irq 29 for MSI/MSI-X 19:55:17,736 DEBUG kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: irq 30 for MSI/MSI-X 19:55:17,736 DEBUG kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: irq 31 for MSI/MSI-X 19:55:17,737 DEBUG kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: irq 32 for MSI/MSI-X 19:55:17,846 INFO kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: cciss0: <0x3230> at PCI 0000:06:00.0 IRQ 29 using DAC 19:55:17,902 WARNING kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: cmd 0x12 is reported invalid 19:55:17,902 WARNING kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: unable to determine firmware version of controller 19:55:17,958 WARNING kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: cmd 0xc2 is reported invalid 19:55:17,958 WARNING kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: report logical volume command failed 19:55:17,958 WARNING kernel:cciss 0000:06:00.0: Driver probe function unexpectedly returned 1 " I then tried (unsuccessfully) to create a new driverdisk for the current kernel, or at least what we are PXE booting to (3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64) with CCISS 4.6.28, but was running into some errors. Could someone build a CCISS driverdisk/iso for this kernel? This would be very useful for me. Thank you. Tim

Ack. We will build a DUD for the current kernel. |
I packaged kmod-cciss-3.6.26-6.el7_6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm into a DUD image. It is available from: https://elrepo.org/linux/dud/el7/x86_64/ |
The kmod-cciss package built against the EL 7.7 kernel (kmod-cciss-3.6.26-7.el7_7.elrepo) is also available and its DUD image (dd-cciss-3.6.26-7.el7_7.elrepo.iso) is now in the same place. |

@tyrrvk Any feedback? |
Hi Toracat - Thank you for making this - I did try it out with our cobbler server, and it didn't find any of the controllers. Due to time constraints I moved on, and haven't come back to this. Ironically, I have some other servers with P800 raid cards exhibiting the same issues with CentOS7.7. I might circle back and try kickstarting them, using this driver disk. |
