| Description | All kernel-{lt,ml}-devel packages contain some .gitignore files. In contrast, regular kernel-devel (non-ELRepo) packages are neatly cleaned. Those residual .gitignore files do not directly affect the usage of the devel packages. Installing and compiling out-of-tree kernel modules works as expected. They only minimally bloat the package. However, if the files of the devel package get included in a Git repository, the .gitignore files become active and mask out required files. | ||||

With the release of the kernel-lt-4.4.180-1.el6.elrepo [1], kernel-lt-4.4.180-1.el7.elrepo [2] and kernel-ml-5.1.3-1.el7.elrepo [3] package sets the reported problem has been resolved. The -devel rpm packages now only contain the relevant .config file. All other "dot-files" have been purged from the packages. Now closing as "resolved/fixed".
