Summary0000614: kmod-bbswitch requires kernel(acpi_bus_get_device) = 0x0f1ffd42
DescriptionOn kernel-3.10.0-327.el7.x86_64 and kernel-3.10.0-327.3.1.el7.x86_64,

yum install bumblebee

throws the following error:

Error: Package: kmod-bbswitch-0.8-1.el7.elrepo.x86_64 (elrepo)
           Requires: kernel(acpi_bus_get_device) = 0x0f1ffd42

Additional InformationThis is a fresh CentOS 7.2 install
installed are

kernel-3.10.0-327.el7.x86_64
kernel-tools-libs-3.10.0-327.el7.x86_64
kernel-tools-3.10.0-327.el7.x86_64
kernel-headers-3.10.0-327.el7.x86_64

a similar "kernel(acpi_bus_get_device) = 0x0f1ffd42" error appears with the kernel-3.10.0-327.3.1.el7.x86_64 with its tools, tools-libs and headers, this is why I downgraded the kernel

This is the output on kernel-3.10.0-327.3.1.el7.x86_64

It basically throws me back and forward between the two kernels with the same "Requires: kernel(acpi_bus_get_device) = 0x0f1ffd42" message

We will try to rebuild kmod-bbswitch against the EL7.2 kernel (3.10.0-327.el7).

@toracat Thank you!
I can test the packages if it's needed, just let me know.

@petarp

I built kmod-bbswitch-0.8-2.el7.elrepo.x86_64.rpm. It will show up in the elrepo-testing repo soon. Please test and see if this version works. It is not backward compatible with EL7.1 or older kernels.

@toracat

kmod-bbswitch-0.8-2.el7.elrepo.x86_64.rpm installed flawlessly.
Proceeded with the rest of bubmblebee and had no additional problems.

Thank you!

Great news. Thanks for a thorough test. I will promote it to the main repo.
