Summary0001448: mptsas el9 installation with inst.dd fails
DescriptionI'm trying to add mptsas on my Rocky 9.3 installation by providing either
dd.inst=https://elrepo.org/linux/dud/el9/x86_64/dd-mptsas-3.04.20-5.el9_3.elrepo.iso

or providing that iso in a USB drive.

The driver is loaded, LSI storage is detected and I'm able to start installation on that storage.

However the installation stops due to errors:
nothing provides kernel .... (attached)
(Cannot copy paste the whole message because I have console from idrac over VM and does not do copy/paste)

installation kernel is: 5.14.0-362.8.1.el9_3.x86_64

Is that dd-mptsas supposed to work for another kernel version?

The installation command was
inst.dd= and not dd.inst

I wrote it wrong in the ticket, cannot edit to correct it.

As I said the driver is being loaded and the storage is detected.

ok, I've managed to installed it.

I've used the minimal.iso instead of the boot.iso.

The boot.iso probably fetches a different/updated? kernel to install in the chroot that does not match the kernel module version.

Glad that you've found the reason why it failed.

When updating the system (kernel), be sure to update the kmod-mptsas package as well.
