| Description | I did an upgrade from AlmaLinux 8.3 to AlmaLinux 8.4 (Unsure if released at the time of this ticket, just noted they had new packages on 8.4, suspect still in beta). This resulted in a system that was acting like there was no storage controllers on reboot. Going to the previous working kernel, 4.18.0-240.22.11.el8_3.x86_64 (which worked), and running dracut -f --kver 4.18.0-293.el8.x86_64 resulted in dracut: FAILED: /usr/lib/dracut/dracut-install -D /var/tmp/dracut.e07pn6/initramfs --kerneldir /lib/modules/4.18.0-293.el8.x86_64/ -m sata_sil. | ||||

Hi, 4.18.0-293.el8.x86_64 <-- that looks like a beta kernel release. The final RHEL8.4 kernel is 4.18.0-305.el8.x86_64 We have packages for el8.4 in our testing repository that have been built on RHEL8.4 final release. You can try the updated kmod-sata_sil package, which may (or may not) work with your beta kernel. Alternatively you will need to wait for the final release of 8.4 and/or update your kernel to kernel-4.18.0-305.el8.x86_64. You can try: dnf --enablerepo=elrepo-testing update kmod-sata_sil and see how you get on. |

Confirmed, that the kernel I had was from the AlmaLinux 8 beta, which as of today 8.4 AlmaLinux is released (and I got the 4.18.0-305.el8.x86_64 kernel). The system booted just fine using kmod-sata_sil-2.4-5.el8_4.elrepo.x86_64.rpm |
