Summary0000857: kmod-ar5523-0.0-6.el7_4.elrepo.x86_64 incompatible with CentOS 7.5 1804 kernel 3.10.0-862.3.2.el7.x86_64
Descriptionkmod-ar5523-0.0-6.el7_4.elrepo.x86_64 with a Netgear WG111T USB WiFi adapter and CentOS 7.4 worked fine. After the recent upgrade to CentOS 7.5 1804, the WG111T is no longer recognized.

Running lsusb gives the following output for the WG111T

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1385:4251 Netgear, Inc WG111T (no firmware)

and the indicator light on the adapter does not light.

I've tried reinstalling the kmod-ar5523 & rebooting but there is no change

The package needs to be rebuilt against the 7.5 kernel. We'll let you know when it is ready for testing.

I've rebuilt the package for you against the 7.5 kernel. The new package is syncing to the mirror sites and should be available shortly. Please would you advise if it works for you:

kmod-ar5523-0.0-7.el7_5.elrepo.x86_64.rpm

Please note this new package will most likely only work with the new 7.5 kernels and will likely not be backward compatible with older 7.4 kernels.

Please update with yum and reboot to a 7.5 kernel:

yum update kmod-ar5523

Thanks

Thanks for the quick response.

I've installed the updated kmod-ar5523 package with yum update and rebooted and the WG111T adapter seem to be working fine.

I've checked the boot.log, dmesg & messages files in /var/log and there are some entries regarding the ar5523 driver in the messages file which might indicate a problem. I've uploaded these entries in the file messages.ar5523 in case they are useful to you.

Thanks again for your help

Thanks.

If the driver is functioning as expected, I'll close as fixed.
