Summary | 0000780: inquiry regarding the latest legacy 304-135 driver on RHEL 7.4
Description | We've been experiencing issues with the latest legacy 304 drivers with RHEL7.4. Both with the versions from kmod and from NVIDIA. Luckily someone created a workaround for the drivers from NVIDIA. I was wondering if this will be implemented into the kmod? Thanks!

Thanks for the bug report. I'll take a look and try to get some packages built for you to test, although it may be the weekend before I'm able to do so. I'll post back here once packages are available. |
|
Hi, just to follow up. the workaround I posted is unofficial, so hopefully NVIDIA updates the 304 drivers soon with the workaround. |
|
I've applied the patch and the following packages have just been released to the elrepo testing repository and are currently syncing to the mirrors. They should be available shortly: kmod-nvidia-304xx-304.135-4.el7_4.elrepo.x86_64.rpm http://elrepo.org/linux/testing/el7/x86_64/RPMS/ Please would you test and let me know if they work for you. Thanks |

I tested it and it worked for me. You are the very BEST!!! For me the update from CentOS 7.3 to 7.4 and so from kmod 304.135-2 to 304.135-3 resulted in a kernel panic crash-freeze shortly after I got the message "Nvidia already registered...", so maybe the severity should be escalated to major like the 340.xx issue? I just DLed and installed kmod-nvidia-304xx-304.135-4.el7_4.elrepo.x86_64.rpm from the link you posted, that was sufficient. The nvidia-304xx-kmod-304.135-4.el7_4.elrepo.nosrc.rpm wasn't necessary (and isn't listed on the FTP site you posted). I'm using an Asrock N68C-GS FX with the GeForce7025/nForce630a chipset. Thank you very much for your efforts, it is very much appreciated! If you want/need any more information, I'll try to provide them to you! |

FYI NVIDIA just released updated drivers yesterday http://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/123703/en-us http://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/123709/en-us |

Thanks for the heads up. AFAICS the updates fix the issue we have patched for, so I don't see any urgent need for us to update if everything is working as expected with our current packages. Those releases don't appear to contain any other fixes that would affect our users. |
|
Based on positive feedback, I have promoted kmod-nvidia-304xx-304.135-4.el7_4.elrepo.x86_64.rpm to the main elrepo repository. Closing this bug as fixed. Please feel free to reopen or file a new bug if required. |
