Summary0000723: nvidia
DescriptionHi. I've tried yum install nvidia-x11-drv on CentOS 7 (3.10.0-514.10.2.el7-x86_64) along w bumblebee.x86_64. On msi-GS63VR pc w intel gpu + GTX1060-6GB, I have 2 issues:
1) (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia/libglx.so: libnvidia-tls.so.375.39: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I've tried adding a sym link to file /usr/lib64/nvidia-tls/NVidia-tls.so.375.39, but results in a newer OS ABI Linux 2.3.99 vs 2.2.5. Driver still fails to load, I assume due to the version mismatch.

2) known reported weak-updates issue:
depmod: WARNING: /lib/modules/3.10.0-514.el7.x86_64/weak-updates/nvidia/nvidia-modeset.ko needs unknown symbol nvidia_register_module
depmod: WARNING: /lib/modules/3.10.0-514.el7.x86_64/weak-updates/nvidia/nvidia-modeset.ko needs unknown symbol nvidia_get_rm_ops
...

Is Issue#1 related to Issue#2? Thx!

1) I have no idea why your libglx fails to load. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstall, with a reboot after each.

2) is expected behaviour, kmod-nvidia-375.39-2.el7 is not backward compatible with kernels earlier than kernel-3.10.0-514.10.2.el7-x86_64 due to the kernel ABI changing. The warning reflects this fact. If you uninstall older non-compatible kernels then the warning goes away.

Thx, I've already tried reinstalling, with no change. I'll try again without updating kernel & headers to latest. Otherwise will have to figure out why the ABI driver versions are out of sync.

I would try getting just the nvidia drivers working without bumblebee first. Keep it simple then add bumblebee once you know the nvidia drivers are working.
