Summary | 0001202: No kmod-nvidia-470xx for EL7
Description | kmod-nvidia-510.* has been released and it lacks support for Kepler. The nvidia-detect now reports for Kepler-cards that 'kmod-nvidia-470xx' should be used. There is no 'kmod-nvidia-470xx' visible in ELrepo
Additional Information | [kepler@EL7]$ nvidia-detect kmod-nvidia-470xx [kepler@EL7]$ yum -q --enablerepo=elrepo* list kmod-nvidia* Installed Packages kmod-nvidia.x86_64 470.103.01-1.el7_9.elrepo @elrepo Available Packages kmod-nvidia-340xx.x86_64 340.107-3.el7_7.elrepo elrepo kmod-nvidia-390xx.x86_64 390.144-1.el7_9.elrepo elrepo [turing@EL7]$ yum -q --enablerepo=elrepo* list kmod-nvidia* Available Packages kmod-nvidia.x86_64 510.54-1.el7_9.elrepo elrepo kmod-nvidia-340xx.x86_64 340.107-3.el7_7.elrepo elrepo kmod-nvidia-390xx.x86_64 390.144-1.el7_9.elrepo elrepo

Acknowledged, it's on the todo list. In the meantime, users of kepler hardware will continue to use the latest release of the 470 series driver and yum-plugin-nvidia will prevent accidental updating on unsupported hardware. |

Legacy packages for el7 have been built and released (I've not got to packages for el8 yet): kmod-nvidia-470xx-470.103.01-1.el7_9.elrepo.x86_64.rpm nvidia-x11-drv-470xx-470.103.01-1.el7_9.elrepo.x86_64.rpm nvidia-x11-drv-470xx-libs-470.103.01-1.el7_9.elrepo.i686.rpm nvidia-x11-drv-470xx-libs-470.103.01-1.el7_9.elrepo.x86_64.rpm Packages are syncing to mirror sites and should be available through yum shortly. If you are migrating from the non-legacy packages, you will need to uninstall those first, then install the 470xx legacy packages and reboot. Tested locally and they are working fine for me. |
